An international, multilingual master’s degree programme
Part of the EC2U (European Campus of City-Universities) Alliance, the international master’s degree programme European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact (120 ECTS) embraces languages and cultures from the perspective of diversity.
The programme requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) (180 ECTS) in a relevant field of studies (languages, cultures, societies). At the university of Turku, the major can be either French or German. In addition to French and/or German, excellent language skills in English are also required.
The programme aims at training language professionals for a multilingual and multicultural working life: multicultural business advising, multilingual project management, diplomacy, media, transcultural communication and so forth. Completing the programme will also give eligibility to those who wish to pursue a scientific career.
The programme provides the students with following competences:
- Expertise in the European linguistic and cultural landscape and its societies
- Communication skills in multilingual and multicultural environments, to both specialist and non-specialist audiences
- Professional view on linguistic and cultural diversity
- Advanced research methods in the academic fields of linguistic and cultural contact and diversity
- Intercultural competences for the European labour market
- Scientific writing in the field of expertise chosen
