The University of Turku was ranked among the top 1.9% of the world's best universities in the 2024 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR). A total of 20,966 universities were included in the ranking, of which the top 2,000 were ranked.

The CWUR ranking assesses universities on four measures: the quality of education, alumni employment, quality of faculty, and research performance. The ranking does not rely on surveys and university data submissions.

The University of Turku improved its previous ranking (387th) by moving up to 382nd place. Among the European universities included in the ranking, the University of Turku was ranked 156th. A total of ten Finnish universities were included in the 2024 ranking, with the University of Helsinki (126th) and Aalto University (350th) ahead of the University of Turku.

As in the previous year, Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University retained the top three positions in the 2024 global ranking.

CWUR has ranked universities since 2012. In the first years, CWUR ranked the top 100 global universities but today CWUR ranks the top 2,000 global universities out of over 20,000 universities worldwide.
